Thank Goodness for AC

Now I remember why I moved from Southern California to Seattle.
The HEAT!!
So today Grayson is here visiting at the shop to stay cool and all three Chihuahua's.
I thought Chihuahua's liked the heat. Well.... not mine! They are just fine now
on the counter enjoying the Air Conditioning. Hudson is fine as well terrorizing the shop in the AC. I think it is too hot for the Seattlites to come out shopping. So we will just enjoy the nice cold air here. We may even stay here all night!
Buddy is hoping that Grayson will throw some snacks out of play and pack.

Here are the two little princesses laying on the counter in their little bed.
Life is good!

Celebrating Grayson's First Birthday

On Saturday, we celebrated Grayson's 1st Birthday. He wasn't feeling the best,
but we all have fun celebrating. He had a monkey theme birthday party including the cutest monkey cupcakes that his mommy made. Eyes were m&m's, with mini reeses butter cups as ears, mouth was a vanilla wafer with a bit of red tiny licorice as the mouth.
He's thinking about eating this after re-arranging the monkeys face.

Grandpa helping him unwrap presents. He is wearing his new visor that I bought him.

Big Brother Hudson is eating another cupcake.
So fun, it seems like yesterday that we were doing this with our kids.
How time flies!!

Pictures from the Mill Creek Festival

The festival went off well. It was quite toasty outside, but thankfully, we had umbrella's and tents. May Palmer performed in front of the store both Saturday and Sunday and really drew a big crowd. A special thank you to all the gals who had booths in front of Haley's Cottage.

Back from Atlanta Buying Trip

What a great and crazy buying trip. Had to spend yesterday recuperating after 5 days of shopping. I was going to rent a scooter, but changed my mind, $55.00 per day so I walked it.

The show was definitely down from past years, but most of my favorite showrooms looked great with lots of new items and great displays. New items should be rolling in soon. Can't wait!

This weekend is our Mill Creek Town Center Festival. Some of our favorite vendors will be there along with entertainment from Miss May Palmer. More to come on next blog.

Off to Buy!

Leaving for the Atlanta Gift Show

for our semi annual buying trip. I'm glad that I will be mostly indoors as it is well over 100 degrees.

I am really excited about this trip as it seems that business is finally picking up, so more buying for me. That's the best part of this job.

See you on the 13th.

The House that Kim Built

My very very good long time loyal customer Kim built this house a few years ago on Lake Stevens (her husband is a builder). She just put it on the market, and it sold immediately. Now that tells you that even though the market isn't great, great houses still sell. When I grow up, I want to live in a house just like this. It's perfect! As I take you through some of the rooms, you will see Haley's Cottage in every room. When I went to tour her house, I had forgotten what a good customer she has been through the years. Her house always looks like this.
(No kids or Dogs!)

Even the deck is perfect.
Kim must kill herself to make this house look so beautiful.

Out on the dock.
Can you see why I would want to live here.
Oh the Life.
Even though it will be sad to say goodbye to this house, I can't wait to see the
next house they will be starting soon.

The 4th of July in Hawaii

My son and his wife and babies are visiting our relatives in Hawaii over the 4th, so I thought I would check to see what goes on in Hawaii and here you go.
Dubbed Turtle Independence Day, these endangered natives are set to be "herded" at 10:30 a.m. from saltwater ponds where they've been raised.

There are supposed to be "paraded" to the beach, whereupon they'll be released into the wild.

Mauna Lani has received baby honu from Oahu’s Sea Life Park Since 1989 and has raised them in the saltwater ponds of the Mauna Lani Bay.

There, they are watched over until growing large enough for release into the wild. The release occurs on or about every July 4th at the ocean’s edge.

Then there's live entertain, an educational display and July 4th barbeque.

And NO TURTLE SOUP!
Wish I was going!
